Part No. 258010 FIBERID Optical Fiber Identifier
The Hobbes FIBERID P/N 258010 is used to detect and identify the direction of fiber signals in an active fiber cable as low as –40dBm at 1550nm. The clever macro-bending and shielding method is designed to minimize light leakage and maintain power value accuracy. The FIBERID is designed to detect an active fiber, identify traffic direction, and measure the power transmitted through a fiber cable without disconnecting it. Also, it uses a safe and reliable macro–bending technique that does not disrupt traffic, nor damage or overstress the fiber.
During installation, maintenance or troubleshooting a fiber network system, the FIBERID is often necessary to isolate a specific fiber from a bundle without disrupting service. By simple clamping the FIBERID onto a fiber, the unit will indicate if there is a 270Hz, 1kHz, or 2kHz test signal from a modulated light source or from network traffic and indicate the signal direction. The FIBERID can also measure and display fiber core power or relative power on the LCD display. When tracing or identifying fiber cables, it can detect 270Hz, 1kHz, or 2kHz test signals that can be provided by any Hobbes OPTISource Light Source. The FIBERID is simple to use and can be reliably used with one hand.
